Improvising

Chardonnay knocked on the door nervously, and realised the room was empty so she walked in.

She sat down at the piano, running his fingers over the keys. She didn't know what the notes were called, but she knew how they would all be placed. She could identify a note by hearing it once. She knew how to play scales, because she had played notes before and worked out what worked and what didn't.

She closed her eyes, feeling her way around the notes, and played a random chord with her left hand. With her right hand, she started to play a lilting melody - soft jazz.

Simon knocked on the door, already sort of p*ssed off with the world. He'd left his sheet music in the room.

Chardonnay jumped, but didn't stop playing.

"Come in!" she said, blushing.

Simon came in, closing the door gently behind him. "I am sorry to interupt, but, I was wondering, would it be okay if I look for my sheet music?"

"Of course," Chardonnay nodded, changing chords to her right hand and playing the melody with ehr left hand.

"Thanks..." Simon nodded, walking into her line of sight, sifting through the paper on top of the grand piano.

Chardonnay had closed her eyes again. It helped ehr concentrate, feleing her way around the notes.

Simon took a moment to look at her and felt a little shocked. She was stunning!

Chardonnay's hands just sort of carressed the keys, pressing down lightly and apparantly randomly, but creating a gentle blues jazz. As she moved her hands, her body moved a little too.

"My name's Simon," he blurted out before he could stop himself.

"Chardonnay D'Arcy," the girl said. "I would shake your hand, but I'm a little busy."

Simon smiled, laughing softly. "No problem...you're good by the way..."

"Thanks," the girl said. She had never had a lesson. She moved her hands again, making up whatever she felt should go in the gap. "Do you play?"

"Since I was about five..."

The girl smiled, and opened her eyes to look at Simon. "Cool."

Simon grinned lop-sidedly at her. "Can you read music?"

"No, I never learnt how to," the girl said, blushing and looking down. She changed the music, making it more melancholy but just as jazzy.

"Would you ever want to?" Simon asked gently, sort of flirting.

She shrugged, blushing even deeper.

"I can play back most things after hearing them a few times. My brain just sort of... works it all out and tells my hands how to do it."

Simon smiled and came round behind her, leaning over her and playing something soft over what she was, his body leaning into hers slightly.

Chardonnay was aware of the contact and found herself blushing even more. She was watching his hands more than she was watching her own. He had very nice hands.

Simon was breathing slightly on her cheek, quite by accident as he played a soft, lilting and romantic tune.

Chardonnay wanted to turn her head and meet his eyes, but that would be awkward. She wasn't sure whether to try and compliment Simon's tune or whether to play backing music to it. She decided to compliment, switching her usual jazz to a more mellow, sultry sound.

Simon shuffled, leaning over her a bit more, pressing more into her.

Chardonnay was enjoying herself. She ahd played a duet like this before, but not like this. She wanted to tell Simon he could sit down, but it felt wrong to say anything.
