Reading Music

Simon kissed her neck softly.

That was admittedly a little distracting. Chardonnay slowed down the music, ending it with a flourish.

Simon put his arms around her stomach, kissing her neck slowly.

Chardonnay felt the breath catch in her throat.

"How are you?" SImon asked almost huskily.

"G-good," she whispered, breaking into a shiver.

Simon pulled her more tightly to him. "Cold?"

"Not now you're here," Chardonnay murmured, feeling her back pressed against his chest.

Simon smiled, kissing her cheek.

"Sit down," she murmured."

Simon nodded, releasing her and sitting down.

Chardonnay shuffled over so there was space on the narrow piano-stall. To be honest there probably wasn't room for two people to sit.

Simon slowly picked her up and put her on his lap.

Chardonnay blushed, but didn't object.

"So... how do you read music?" Chardonnay asked.

"Do you know the names of the keys?" he asked, stroking the ivorys.

She shook her head.

"Okay...let's start at middle C..." he played the note.

Chardonnay moved forwards, playing all the notes down from the top of the piano and up form the bottom of the piano. They came to the middle a few notes above middle C.

"It's not the middle," she said, frowning.

"It's the middle C..."

"Why do you start with it?" Chardonnay asked, moving back on Simon's lap.

"Because...it's where you're taught to place your thumbs...it's also the key, C major, that doesn't have and sharps or flats...it's the beginning of the simple...."

Chardonnay placed her thumbs on it and played C Major.

"I know some scales. I worked them out by what sounded right."

"Brilliant."

Chardonnay blushed.

"What are the other notes called?"

"A, B, C, D, E, F and G..."
